Vingroup started the construction of a battery factory of VND 4,000 billion in Ha Tinh, implementing the “3 tripod” battery strategy.

On the afternoon of December 12, at Vung Ang Economic Zone, the People’s Committee of Ha Tinh province and Vingroup held a ground-breaking ceremony to build VinES Battery Factory, phase 1 on an area of ​​8 hectares with a total investment of more than 4,000 billion VND. .

VinES Battery Factory, invested by Vingroup, will provide Lithium batteries for Vinfast’s electric cars and electric buses. In phase 1, the factory will be built on a scale of 8 hectares, with a total investment of more than VND 4,000 billion. The entire infrastructure of the factory, including parts casting, welding and packaging workshops, will be built to ensure a capacity of 100,000 battery packs per year. Phase 2 of the plant will expand to produce battery cells and increase capacity to 1 million battery packs/year.

With a high degree of automation over 80%, this will be the first and most modern battery factory in Vietnam, using leading advanced technologies according to American and European standards. In addition, Vingroup is also cooperating with strategic partners who are the world’s leading names in the field of pioneering technology research to produce car batteries.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice President and General Director of Vingroup Nguyen Viet Quang said: “The research and construction of a battery factory in Vung Ang EZ is one of the efforts to establish an ecosystem. clean energy, contributing to the localization of VinFast’s supply. We have been promoting cooperation with many prestigious partners in the world such as the US, Israel, Taiwan, China… for research, development and application. using the most advanced battery technologies such as super-fast charging, solid-state batteries…”.

The construction of the factory marks an important step in implementing Vingroup’s “3 tripod” battery strategy such as purchasing batteries from the world’s best manufacturers, collaborating with partners to produce good batteries. the world’s largest, self-researched and developed battery production.

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ha Tinh province Vo Trong Hai suggested that the investor, together with the project’s contractors, uphold the responsibility, ensure the progress and quality of the work; coordinate with the province in vocational training, job creation, and stable life for local laborers’ children, especially households subject to relocation and resettlement.

At the same time, it is suggested that Vingroup Corporation urgently implement component projects of the auto industry complex, take steps to submit to the licensing authority, and invest in an infrastructure project of an industrial park of 1,200 hectares. in Vung Ang Economic Zone; closely coordinate with the province in the implementation of site clearance.
