Vingroup has just announced the appointment of Michael Lohscheller – who used to hold the position of Vice President of Volkswagen America and General Director of Opel Global – as the General Director of VinFast. Mr. Michael Lohscheller will be responsible for expanding business activities and promoting VinFast worldwide.

Mr. Michael Lohscheller will work in Vietnam, directly managing and operating VinFast’s markets today, including Vietnam, the US, Canada, France, Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, Mr. Michael Lohscheller will also participate in promoting the international outreach strategy, towards the goal of making VinFast a global smart electric car company.

Mr. Michael Lohscheller is considered as one of the leading experts in the automotive industry in the world. One of his biggest accomplishments was leading Opel to steady profit growth after years of losses and converting Opel to an electric vehicle brand.

Sharing about the decision to join VinFast, Mr. Michael Lohscheller said: ” Throughout my career, I have always been attracted to new challenges. One of the first big tasks of Mr. Michael Lohscheller will be to organize the handover of the electric car model VF e34 in Vietnam market in November 2021. According to information from VinFast, the company has received more than 25,000 pre-orders for this SUV model.

After that, Mr. Michael Lohscheller and his associates will have a “launch” in North American and European markets in March 2022, when VinFast’s first smart electric car models are launched in stores. this market.

According to VinFast, the company will launch two electric SUV models, including the VF e35 and VF e36, in the US, Canada, France, Germany and the Netherlands, with a similar battery rental policy to the VF e34 in Vietnam. The company also announced the opening of offices in the aforementioned markets not long ago. The price of the two models mentioned above is not clear, as well as how VinFast has set up a charging station system in Europe and North America.

Michael Lohscheller was born in 1968, German nationality. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration (1992) from the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück (Germany) and the University of Barcelona (Spain). While working, Michael Lohscheller also studied and received a master’s degree in European Marketing Management (1996) from Brunel University (London).
