Starting from Silicon Valley (USA) in 2015 with the goal of manufacturing, manufacturing and deploying service robots, OhmniLabs has built an artificial intelligence (AI) research headquarters in Vietnam, since then company development springboard. This is one of the typical startups introduced at the Vietnam Innovative Startup Investment Fund Forum 2022 (Vietnam Venture Summit 2022).

We believe robots will be an indispensable part of today and in the future. The robot revolution is happening. We also want and try our best so that Vietnam can become a center of production and development. leading robot development in the region and in the world” , said Dr. Vu Duy Thuc – Co-founder & CEO of OhmniLabs.

Thuc said OhmniLabs has developed and deployed one of the largest service robot systems in the world, with more than 4,000 robots in dozens of countries. Robots are used in a variety of fields, from healthcare to education to commerce.

We have more than 700 customers who are large corporations worth more than 1 billion USD. In which, 21 corporations are in the top 100 largest corporations according to Fortune’s ranking” , Mr. Thuc shared.

Disinfectant robot products are proof that robots can help solve social problems. The whole world is facing a shortage of medical staff and overwork, which is especially evident during the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the need for medical care is increasing.

OhmniLabs’ disinfection robot uses ultraviolet technology and self-driving car technology to help disinfect different environments such as hospitals and operating rooms.

This is one of the beginnings. We want to be able to automate a lot of activities in hospitals and medical facilities, not stopping at disinfection but also bringing medicine, bringing food to patients. Security, reception are also applications we can completely do” , Mr. Thuc presented.

Notably, OhmniLabs can develop these applications within 6 months at a cost of less than 1 million USD, instead of taking 2-3 years and tens of millions as the conventional approach. Another achievement that this startup has achieved in the past time is building an open system about robots, helping to develop new robot products extremely quickly.

This platform is based on three main pillars. The first is a library of more than 200 different modules. Next is a unique way to build robots using a 3D printer system. We make our own printers to produce. produce robots right in the market like Vietnam or the US, regardless of the outsourcing units” .

The third is a cloud computing system that helps manage hundreds of thousands of robots easily, and at the same time collects data that helps robots learn, create artificial intelligences and share them, from there to build different applications” , Mr. Thuc said.

The development of OhmniLabs takes place in the context that Vietnam has been participating in the “Golden Triangle of Southeast Asian startups” along with Singapore and Indonesia. According to the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC), Vietnamese startups have raised a record $1.4 billion in 2021, up 1.6 times from $894 million in 2019. This growth is forecast to continue into 2023.

Some of the factors that make Vietnam a bright spot for investment include political stability, a young and highly educated workforce, developed infrastructure, digital skills, and the ability to innovate. In addition, Vietnam is considered a “good land” for high-quality FDI inflows.

At Vietnam Venture Summit 2022, 39 investment funds have committed to pour 1.5 billion USD in 3 years from 2023-2035. The total value of investment in creative startups in Vietnam in this period is expected to reach 5 billion USD.
