Vietnam: what to know from Google’s top global search round-up

While Sri Lanka topped the list of having Googled for the word ‘sex’ for the 4th consecutive year in 2014, Vietnam, the 2009 list topper, still held on to top 10, according to Google’s annual Year in Search.

Meanwhile, Flappy Bird, an iOS game developed in Vietnam by Dong Nguyen, became the most searched for game on Google this year.

According to Google Trend, Vietnam secured the 7th slot for searching the term ‘sex’ globally.

The countries in the top ten are communities where new internet users are fast growing, the giant searching engine said in its annual round-up of the year’s top global searches.

When it comes to breaking down the data by cities, Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa Province tops the charts for people Googling the term ‘sex’ in 2014.

Meanwhile, the simplistic but addictive bird-dodges-pipes game Flappy Bird not only beat out video games likes Destiny, Titanfall and Mario Kart 8 as the most searched for game on Google this year. but also rocketed out of the realm of pop culture to become one of the top overall trending searches globally of the year, according to Google’s annual Year in Search.
