Regarding the incident that just happened with the AAG sea cable line, this morning, December 23, 2019, VNPT announced to customers: “At 7:10 am on December 22, 2019 the international Internet route via AAG sea cable was breakdown, loss of 1,100 Gb of a total of 3,785.5 Gb international over this cable. VNPT has received the warning from the unit managing fiber optic cable and will continue to monitor and update the status to customers ”.

Notably, as reported by ICTnews, the current incident occurred at 17h15 on November 14, 2019 on the S1H branch cable of the AAG cable line at a distance of 163 km from Vung Tau docking station. repaired. According to the plan, the incident of the S1H branch of the AAG will be fixed from December 28, 2019 and is expected to complete and completely restore the channel on the route from January 2, 2020.

Meanwhile, a separate source of ICTnews also confirmed that, from yesterday, December 22, 2019, another submarine cable line that Internet service providers (ISPs) in Vietnam are also using is the route. Intra Asia – IA is also experiencing problems.

With a total length of 6,800 km, the IA cable connects Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan. Launched in November 2009, the IA cable system has a designed data transfer rate of 3.84Tbps, which is considered an important optical cable route to transport traffic to the Americas and Europe. to customers in Vietnam and the region.

Talking to ICTnews on December 23, the representative of an ISP said that in the case of both AAG and IA cables having problems, the Internet capacity from Vietnam to international affected is about 30%. The representative also said that the network operators are organizing the rescue and opening the connection directions via land cables.

Earlier, in sharing with ICTnews, representatives of the Vietnam Internet Association (VIA) said that every time there is a cable problem, the service quality has a local instability during the first few days. After that, the operators will supplement the rescue gradually enough to bring the quality to a stable level.

At the present time, the cause of the incident as well as the troubleshooting schedule for incidents on the undersea AAG and IA fiber lines have not been communicated to ISPs in Vietnam by the two fiber optic cable management units. have used, exploited.
