Treat ‘quality’ employees like Sony: Let work at home for 1 month but still pay full salary, an additional 23 million VND to go shopping

As the COVID-19 epidemic spread at a dizzying pace, large technology companies around the world began implementing policies to protect workers. Most recently, Sony’s PlayStation division has officially allowed employees in Europe and North America to be allowed to work from home.

According to PushSquare, employees of this division will work remotely from now until April 30, 2020, or about 1 month. While at home, Playstation employees still receive a full month’s salary, and an additional $ 1,000 (23 million) per person. The aforementioned allowance will be used to purchase necessary supplies and equipment when working from home.

Not only Playstation staff, Sony’s game development studios worldwide will also be allowed to work from home. These studios include Sucker Punch Productions, Santa Monica Studio, Guerrilla Games, and Insomniac Games. With all employees being given time off to work from home, the launch schedule of some future exclusive titles for the PS5 will certainly be affected.

However, according to Sony, ensuring the health of its employees is the most important thing right now.

Before Sony, a number of other game studios also allowed employees to stay home from work. Last week, CD Projekt RED – the father of The Witcher series announced that they would switch to online work to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection across the company.

Contrary to Sony, there are a number of other gaming companies, such as GameStop, which have faced criticism by not allowing employees to leave. The world’s largest chain of gaming stores is still determined to open its stores in the US – the country with the most infections in the world. This means that GameStop store employees can face the risk of COVID-19 infection.
