In recent times, the Government and Prime Minister have been drastic, consistent and fast with the vaccine strategy, must at all costs, by all means to have vaccines for the people. On May 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a Decision to establish a vaccine fund for COVID-19 prevention.

In order to call for compatriots, soldiers nationwide, overseas Vietnamese, businesses, entrepreneurs as well as all organizations and individuals at home and abroad to voluntarily contribute, sponsor and support the Fund vaccine against COVID-19, on the evening of June 5, the official launch event of this Fund will be held in Hanoi.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that in this difficult time, people’s health is the most important, putting the task of protecting people’s lives first and foremost. Vietnam has achieved positive results in epidemic prevention and control, affirming its role as a responsible member of the international community. However, in order to successfully advance in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, a vaccine is the most powerful weapon, a prerequisite for the fight to come to a complete victory.

According to calculations by the Ministry of Health, in the immediate future to prevent the epidemic, Vietnam needs to buy 150 million doses of vaccine to vaccinate about 75 million people with an estimated cost of over 25,000 billion VND. This is a huge source of funding, so the Government has allowed the establishment of a vaccine fund for COVID-19 prevention and control in Vietnam, managed by the Ministry of Finance. Accordingly, the Ministry affirmed that the fund will operate openly and be strictly controlled in both revenue and expenditure.

The COVID-19 vaccine fund is managed by the Ministry of Finance and has the function of managing and coordinating the fund’s financial and in-kind resources. The fund management apparatus is an officer of the Ministry of Finance, operating under the part-time regime decided by the Minister of Finance. The fund operates for non-profit purposes, all operating expenses of the fund management apparatus are paid by the state budget.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh – Deputy General Director of the State Treasury, Director of the Management Board of the Vaccine Fund for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said: “The current receipt of funds is most organizations and individuals use the form of bank transfer. Currently, this account is opened at BIDV Bank, Hanoi branch and the Transaction Office. When receiving these two units, they will report to the General Fund Management Board to publicize daily. “.

According to updated data until 4 pm on June 4 of the Management Board of the Vaccine Fund for COVID-19 Prevention, the Fund has received more than 264.8 billion VND, more than 8,700 USD and more than 2,700 EUR. The donation is completely voluntary and the fund’s revenue will be regularly publicized on the website of the Ministry of Finance as well as newspapers and radio stations. The fund’s spending is also strictly controlled.
