Water Resistance Tester is a free app available on the Google Play Store, classified by Android Police as 'fun things we didn't know we could do with an app'. As the name suggests, this app can test a smartphone's water resistance, without having to touch a single drop of water.

This app is really simple, fun and useful. Developer Ray Wang said that he created this application to help people check the IP67 / IP68 waterproof status of smartphones, after being repaired or degraded over time.

The Water Resistance Tester uses a barometer sensor to check the integrity of the waterproof seal on a smartphone. According to the feedback of Reddit forum members, this app works very precisely.

The Verge also conducted a test with a Galaxy Note20 Ultra with an IP68 waterproof rating. This smartphone passes the test, but if you open the SIM tray, it will no longer pass the test. A TCL 20 Pro 5G smartphone does not have a waterproof rating, nor can it pass the app's test.

Water Resistance Tester is not the first application of its kind, but it is considered to work very accurately with both old and new smartphones. Besides this application is also completely free, unless you want to contribute a few dollars to the developer to remove the ads displayed at the bottom of the screen.
