The technique of “quantum reading” helps memorize 100 thousand words within 5 minutes: Scientific method or hoax?

Xinzhitong, a student education center in Beijing, China, has recently sparked controversy by announcing a new learning method called ‘quantum reading’. As the name implies, this method will help students increase their ability to read quickly and help them memorize about 100,000 words in just 5 minutes.

This controversial method has recently gained worldwide attention after a promotional video was released. The video shows children sitting and reading books. With advertising messages, these kids are actually using ‘quantum reading’ technology to scan and remember the entire contents of book pages at unprecedented speed.

Quantum reading method

In its brochure, Beijing Xinzhitong Student Education Center said the technology of ‘quantum reading’ was developed from a book written by Japanese author Yumiko Tobitani. In the book, Tobitani rewrites his entire research process on ‘quantum reading’.

In addition to increasing the ability to read and memorize quickly, this method is also integrated to help readers understand both texts written in English, French and German languages. During quantum scanning, documents are automatically translated into the desired language, making it easier for readers to learn.

Chinese media later found that some other private education centers also offered courses using similar methods. Some courses cost up to 269 thousand yuan (874 million VND), but all experts say this is a scam.

The fast reading method like a scanner is never before seen in fast reading methods in the world.

According to researchers, there is no scientific basis for the ‘quantum reading’ technique advertised. Besides, the leaders at Xinzhitong Education Center could not explain the media’s questions about the new method in detail. In addition, the reason why Yumiko Tobitani’s work was applied by many other centers also caused doubts.

However, quite a few parents have invested their children in courses using the ‘quantum reading’ method. Most of them receive ridicule because of their gullibility. Many Chinese education experts believe that many parents are so obsessed with educating their children to the point of lack of consideration. For children attending such vague courses not only costs money, but can also cause harm.
