The Stage Manager multitasking feature has been updated by Apple for the old iPad Pro

Apple recently released iPadOS 16.1 version for supported iPad models. The new version brings many changes, notably the Stage Manager window multitasking feature that has been updated by Apple for older iPad Pro models, specifically iPad Pro 2018 and iPad Pro 2020.

Apple says that many older iPad Pro users have expressed interest in the Stage Manager feature, which was originally implemented exclusively for iPads equipped with the M1 chip. Therefore, “Apple Defect” has updated this feature for older models to meet the needs of use. However, due to hardware limitations, older iPad Pro models will be limited to using Stage Manager only on the iPad screen, not supporting removable screens.

In addition, details of the iPadOS 16.1 update indicate that Apple has removed the ability to support Stage Manager on removable screens for iPad M1 models. The reason is said to come from the stability of this feature.

Stage Manager is a new multitasking manager introduced by Apple at the WWDC 2022 event held in June. Stage Manager allows iPad users to use 4 apps at once on one screen with resizable app windows. This feature also appears on macOS Ventura with a similar operation.
