Recently, high-end camera company Leica has teamed up with Japanese collectible toy brand Medicom Toy to launch a limited edition of Bearbrick. This toy model will be sold in 3 different sizes with the identification of Leica cameras, but of course, it cannot take pictures.
Unveiled on the social media platform Weibo and officially published in Zeek Magazine, the Bearbrick (or BE@RBRICK) model is a brand new line of bear models with the design of the Leica M camera. will only be sold exclusively in limited quantities in China. The product was created by David Suh from Leica and the main designer of the 3125C brand Mike Lam. The result can be called a Leica bear-shaped.
Like many Bearbrick models that have come before, the basic design of the bear remains the same, while the details are printed. With this version of Leica, the front of the sea bear clearly shows the rangefinder, the lens cap with Leica lettering covering the mount, the angle-of-view knob and of course the red Leica logo. On the back will be the words “Leica Camera Wetzlar”, next to the viewfinder window and the streamlined interface of digital Leica models.
The Leica x BE@RBRICK product line will be sold in 3 sizes: 100%, 400% and the largest is 1,000%. The standard size is 7 centimeters – according to MediCom’s measurement chart. From there, the 400% bear will be 28 centimeters tall and the 1,000% version will be 70 centimeters tall.
The 100% and 400% versions will also come with a special camera strap from Leica and a multifunctional camera bag. The 400% version is actually very close in size to a Leica rangefinder, and from there the included bag can be used to hold a Leica M-series camera with several lenses.
Because the Leica BE@RBRICK bear can fit into a crossbody bag, according to Zeek Magazine, this is the first crossbody product in the line’s history. For a segment of customers, this will make the 400% bear a hot and desirable street fashion accessory.
The famous BE@RBRICK models are toys for “rich children”, and this version is no exception. The 1,000% size version will be sold for 25,000 yuan (about 89 million VND), while the 100% and 400% version will be sold together for 12,800 yuan (about 45.5 million VND). This product line will begin to be sold in China from August 10.
