The new MacBook Pro is thicker and heavier than the old generation

Early this morning (October 19), Apple launched the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro with a series of design changes. Notably, the 16-inch version is said to be much thicker and heavier than its predecessor.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro was released to replace the old 13-inch MacBook Pro running Intel chips. With a larger screen, it wouldn’t be fair to compare these two models against each other. However, we can still compare the new MacBook Pro 16 against the previous generation to find the difference in overall weight, thickness and dimensions.

Looking at the parameters above, it can be seen that the new 16-inch MacBook Pro is almost 9% heavier than the previous generation and also slightly thicker. This may be because the new MacBook Pro is equipped with more ports and added new features.
