Aerospace companies Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Bell will hold meetings with Vietnam’s state-owned defense procurement companies, Thanh told Reuters.

“Helicopters are one of the things that companies hope to sell to Vietnam,” said Thanh, although he also noted that deals take time to complete.

Boeing said that its discussions with Vietnamese leaders will focus on the close partnership, as well as ways to strengthen the country’s aviation capacity.

According to Mr. Thanh, a number of companies are paying special attention to Vietnam as a production center and providing services for increasingly affluent consumers when the GDP here reaches more than 8% by 2022.
