The international APG fiber optic cable route goes into operation, the Internet obsession for cable termination will no longer exist

When APG optical cable route goes into operation, the international Internet situation in Vietnam will no longer be as bad as when the AAG cable line breaks or maintains.

According to the announcement from major telecommunication service providers, VNPT, FPT, Vietel and CMC, the new APG (Asia – Pacific) fiber optic cable will be put into use on December 28, 2016. .

Thus, the Internet connection from Vietnam to the international will no longer depend too much on the frequently broken AAG cable route, the situation of accessing websites with servers not located in Vietnam will be much better when one The cable has trouble.

The new APG fiber optic line has come into operation.

The new APG fiber optic line has come into operation.

AAG cable route is an optical cable line connecting from Southeast Asia to the US which accounts for 70% of Vietnam's international Internet traffic, this cable went into operation in 2009 and often stops operating to maintenance several times a year.

APG cable route is invested by Vietnamese telecommunications enterprises in cooperation with foreign enterprises since the end of 2012, with the same direction as international connection as AAG and IA (Lien A submarine optical cable route).

VNPT Group invested 40 million USD, Viettel 25 million USD, FPT 10 million USD and CMC 5 million USD.

Quote by Saigon Economic Times:

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, General Director of FPT Telecom, said APG is a more than 11,000 km marine optical cable connecting countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. , Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan, with an initial bandwidth of 4 Tb / s, this cable has a design flow of 15.3 Tb / s.

According to Mr. Le Dang Dung, Deputy General Director of Viettel Military Telecom Group, APG cable route comes into operation, Vietnam's international internet connection will not be affected much when AAG service temporarily stops operating. because APG is dozens of times larger than AAG.

Dung added that in order to increase the capacity of international internet connections to serve the increasing needs of users, Viettel also invested US $ 50 million for AAE-1 sea cable (Asia Africa Euro 1). . AAE-1 connects Vietnam and Asian countries to Europe and Africa with a length of about 23,000 km. AAE-1 is a redundant cable line for cable lines that Vietnamese businesses have invested in. The AAE-1 cable also connects from Vietnam to the world, but in a different direction than the AAG, APG or IA routes. While AAE-1 connects from Vietnam via Malaysia, Singapore via India, Pakistan, Egypt, Europe and Africa, AAG and AI are connected from Vietnam via Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines to the United States. So even if the AAG or IA marine optical cable is paralyzed, AAE-1 can still operate normally.

NEC contractor recently successfully connected AAE-1 optical fiber cable to Vung Tau. The whole AAE-1 submarine cable project is about to be completed and put into use.

The AAE-1 cable has a total investment of US $ 820 million with the participation of 20 partners in 18 countries (telecom companies in the countries where the cable goes through). In addition to Viettel, VNPT also invested US $ 10 million in this submarine cable route.
