Sharing with Business Insider recently, a former director of Meta – the parent company of Facebook, said she was fired while on maternity leave.

Anneka Patel, a Facebook communications director, wrote in a LinkedIn post on November 14 that she was one of thousands of employees affected by Meta’s mass layoffs.

According to Patel, she received Meta’s resignation email at 5:35 a.m. This happened after some co-workers texted her, saying they had been fired.

“ Early this morning, I learned that I was one of the 11,000 employees affected by Meta’s mass layoffs. This has had a huge impact on me as I am currently on maternity leave ,” added Patel.

Previously, Patel was expected to take maternity leave until the end of February next year.

“For those who have known me for a long time, working at Facebook (now Meta) has been my dream since I moved from London to San Francisco Bay 9 years ago,” Patel expressed regret. She added that she plans to spend time with her three-month-old baby before looking for a new job.
