The father of the Internet warns: “Don’t rush to invest in AI just because of ChatGPT”

ChatGPT is one of the hottest topics on social media today. This answering software (chatbot) is integrated with AI allowing to chat with humans through very natural conversations.

In addition to asking questions for ChatGPT to answer, users can also make requests for this chatbot such as writing poetry, writing essays, composing job application emails, programming…

However, in a keynote address at a conference in Mountain View (California, USA) last week, Dr Vinton Gray Cerf warned that people should not rush to invest in conversational AI chatbots like ChatGPT or ChatGPT. Google Bard just because they are considered hot topics, being discussed. This warning comes amid the growing popularity of ChatGPT.

Dr. Vinton Gray Cerf said: “People are talking about ChatGPT or similar version of ChatGPT by Google. We know that this chatbot does not always work the way we want.”

The father of the Internet added that he tried asking a chatbot to add emojis at the end of a sentence, but the tool didn’t do it. The chatbot then issued an apology. Another example shows that chatbots still have many limitations. It was Dr. Vinton Gray Cerf who asked a question about himself, but the answer he received was still flawed.

The expert warned against the temptation to invest in AI just because the technology is great, even though it may not always work properly.

“If you think ‘I can sell this to investors just because this is a hot topic and people are going to throw money at me’ then don’t do it. Think twice. Not always. we can also predict what’s going to happen with these technologies, because honestly, most of the problem is human. That’s also why we humans haven’t changed in 400 the past year, let alone the last 4,000 years,” shared Dr. Vinton Gray Cerf.

Technically, he said, engineers should be responsible for fixing bugs to make these technologies less harmful, and said it’s important to learn how to reduce the likelihood of worst-case scenarios.

Dr Vinton Gray Cerf’s warning comes as the world’s leading technology companies like Google and Microsoft are grappling with how to develop their own AI chatbots.

After ChatGPT was launched, because of concerns that this chatbot was a threat to search engines, even the “giant” Google issued a “red code” for employees. And yet, a day before Microsoft partnered with OpenAI, released a new version of Bing, Google announced the chatbot Barb, an AI conversational service and is considered a potential competitor of ChatGPT.

Currently the Bard chatbot is being tested in a small group. In the future, this tool can be extended to the audience.
