Apple’s security work this year doesn’t seem to improve much, as today, the CAD designs of the larger iPhone models than the iPhone 12 Pro – iPhone 12 Pro Max – have been leaked, thereby confirming the design that Apple intends to bring on its upcoming flagship model.
The CAD designs are posted on YouTube channel EverythingApplePro as well as leaker Max Weinbach’s Twitter account. What do these CADs tell us about the iPhone 12 Pro Max?
First, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be the largest iPhone Apple has ever produced, with a 6.7-inch screen.
– The design of the device indeed looks like a miniature iPad Pro (or an enlarged iPhone 5). It has a flat stainless steel frame, as opposed to the curved frame on current iPhone models.
– The screen border of the device will be only 1.55mm thin. For ease of comparison, this border is nearly 1mm thinner than the 2.52mm edge on the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
– The overall thickness of the device will be around 7.4mm, a bit less than the 8.1mm thickness of the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
– iPhone 12 Pro Max will also have new colors, including light blue, purple, and light orange.

However, the most interesting thing that the CAD revealed is that the iPhone 12 Pro Max has an input that looks like a Smart Connector. Do you hear the familiar? The Smart Connector is the port currently used on some iPad models, allowing them to connect to its Smart and Magic Keyboards. Which means Apple is most likely planning to launch a keyboard accessory for iPhone 12 Pro Max. Considering the 6.7-inch screen size, this iPhone is just big enough to pair with an external keyboard. Of course, this input could also be a Smart Connector designed for some other type of device that Apple has yet to release.
iPhone 12 Pro Max is expected to launch this fall, along with 3 other iPhone models. Earlier this week, Apple launched the latest iPhone – the second-generation iPhone SE. You can see the full CAD designs of the iPhone 12 Pro Max in the video below.
