Apple launched the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro during last night’s event. The highlight of these two MacBook models is not only the notch design, but also the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors. Two new Apple Silicon processors significantly improve processing performance, while being much more power efficient than the previous generation.
Apple says the combination of M1 Pro/Max and macOS delivers more performance than computers with 8-core processors, while using up to 70% less power. In its testing, Apple announced the battery life of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, the results are really impressive.
MacBook Pro 14 inch.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro offers 17 hours of video playback on a single charge. The 16-inch MacBook Pro offers 21 hours of video playback on a single charge. Both new MacBook models support fast charging, with a charging speed of up to 50% of the battery in 30 minutes.
MacBook Pro 16 inch.
Apple also compared this result to the previous-generation MacBook Pro. The new 14-inch MacBook Pro offers 7 hours longer video playback than the previous generation, while the 16-inch MacBook Pro is 10 hours. However, this result is compared with MacBook Pro equipped with Intel chip.
The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro both support fast charging.
If we compare the battery life of the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and the 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 chip, the results are 17 hours and 20 hours. Even so, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro offers significantly more processing performance.
