Suffering like Tesla employees: The company’s unfinished business was taken to Twitter by Elon Musk to do it even though all were ‘blind’ about social networks

Employees from other Elon Musk companies authorized to work at Twitter include more than 50 people from Tesla, 2 people from Boring Company and 1 person from Neuralink.

The new boss of Twitter has moved 50 of his trusted Tesla employees, most of them software engineers on the Autopilot team, to Twitter, a source told CNBC.

Although he just completed the deal with Twitter on October 28, Musk has left an immediate impression. He fired the CEO, CFO, head of the legal team and even removed the Twitter board.

According to insider information, employees from other Musk companies have now been allowed to work at Twitter, including more than 50 people from Tesla, 2 people from Boring Company and 1 person from Neuralink. Several friends, advisors and investors close to Musk including family office chairman Jared Birchall, angel investor Jason Calacanis and venture capitalist David Sacks are also involved.

Among the dozens of people Elon Musk has taken from Tesla are Software Development Manager Ashok Elluswamy, Chief Technical Officer Autopilot and TeslaBot Milan Kovac, Senior Director of Software Engineering Maha Virduhagiri, Technical Employee Program Manager senior Pete Scheutzow and Jake Nocon – who are in Tesla’s supervisory department as the senior director of security.

Nocon previously worked for Uber and Nisos – a security company that had a multi-million dollar contract with Tesla.

At Twitter, Musk is counting on close aides who are loyal to him to see who should be kept or eliminated at this social network.

He also emphasized to those brought to Twitter that they must learn everything they can about the social network as quickly as possible, from the source code to content moderation and data privacy requirements. From there he was able to redesign the platform.

Musk has identified himself as a free-speech absolutist, but he must balance those desires with the law and business realities. “Twitter obviously cannot become a completely free place for all,” he said in an open letter to advertisers last week.

It is not clear how Tesla employees will split their work schedules between the two companies.

Usually, when Tesla employees work at other Musk companies, usually SpaceX or Boring Company, they can be paid by the second company as an advisor. Some of Musk’s employees work full-time at more than one of his companies. For example, Tesla Vice President Charlie Kuehmann is currently Vice President at SpaceX.

Elsewhere, two Tesla employees told CNBC that employees at the automaker are under pressure to help with projects at other companies of Musk without extra pay. This job is seen as a good opportunity for their career or simply to help and support the work of stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Tesla is facing serious difficulties around the construction and maintenance technology made by the Autopilot team.

The SEC and Justice Department are jointly investigating whether Tesla or Musk broke the law and misled customers about Tesa’s self-driving system.

Meanwhile, the federal vehicle security agency continues to investigate whether Tesla’s self-driving system has flaws that contribute to the crashes. The way Tesla is positioning the system on social media, including Twitter, is part of the investigation.

A series of Twitter employees told CNBC that over the weekend, Tesla employees participated in a code check at this social network. It is worth mentioning that their experience is working on Autopilot and other Tesla software or hardware that is not directly related to the language and systems used to build and maintain the social network.

For example, most engineers at auto companies, even at a technologically superior company like Tesla, have no experience designing and operating search engines and high-traffic platforms. widely from the public.

Twitter is based on multiple codebases with each codebase having millions of lines of code and there are many systems that receive 10 million, even 100 million or more requests per second. In addition, at Tesla, Python is one of the preferred programming languages, and at Twitter, the engineer here uses Scala.

Currently, employees working at Twitter also say they have been asked to see all kinds of technical documents, verify their own work and the work of their teams, and explain their value in the company. “Threats of dismissal will arise if the document fails to impress,” the people lamented.

Employees said they were worried about being fired without reason or warning. Some people worry that they won’t be able to reap the benefits of stock options that are scheduled to come out in the first week of November.

Meanwhile, Twitter employees said they have yet to receive specific plans from Musk and his team, and that much of the plan remains in the dark. Yet, Musk has set a near-impossible deadline for some people to comply with his demands.
