Music streaming service Spotify recently launched a feature that allows music from Apple Watch, without having to connect to the iPhone. Since the app launched in 2018, the Apple Watch has only acted as a remote, for playing music from the Spotify app on the iPhone.

However, with the new feature, users will be able to stream music directly from the Spotify app on Apple Watch to wireless headphones or bluetooth speakers, without being near or connected to the iPhone.

Currently, this new feature of Spotify is still in the process of updating and will roll out to all markets around the world. Therefore, users in Vietnam will have to wait a few more days to receive this new feature.

The new feature requires you to have Apple Watch S3 or later, watchOS version 6.0 or later installed, Wi-Fi or cellular connection, and the latest version of the Spotify app.

Enabling music playback on the Apple Watch is also very simple. From the screen of the music player, you can click on the device menu in the bottom right corner. If you’ve got the new feature updated, you’ll see your Apple Watch now at the top of the list.

Tap the Apple Watch icon, then the app will prompt you to choose a connected bluetooth device, be it an AirPods headset or a nearby wireless speaker. Select the device and start playing music. The feature of playing music through iPhone or other devices from Apple Watch can still be used normally.

With this new feature, the Apple Watch becomes a lot more useful. For example, when running or exercising, you don’t need to carry your iPhone with you anymore, just a combo of Apple Watch and AirPods headphones is enough to listen to music.
