The Samsung factory at Gumi is responsible for a small portion of Samsung’s total smartphone production and specializes in producing high-end phones, mainly for the domestic market. Samsung makes most of its smartphones in Vietnam and India.

Gumi is very close to Daegu, the Korean city of Covid-19. According to the country’s authorities, there have been 433 virus infections as of February 22. Samsung said operations at other chip and display factories in the country were not affected.
