With this result, Vsmart ranked 4th, Apple ranked 5th smartphone company with the best sales in retail channel in Vietnam in January. The top three positions belong to Samsung, Oppo, Vivo.

In the traditional retail channel, Vsmart has maintained its market share increasing continuously by 5.8% -6.6% -7.7% in the three months since November 2019 – something not every new smartphone company does. OK.

In January, Vsmart sold 107,498 smartphones, while Apple sold 90,745 iPhones in Vietnam in retail channels.

Although sales have not changed much in the traditional retail channel, Apple has a large market share in the sales channel through the Internet. This company accounts for 15.7% market share in non-traditional retail channels, only behind Samsung in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vsmart holds 7.8% market share in this channel.

Total martphone sold in the online market in Vietnam in January 2020 was only 226,705 units compared to 1,396,072 units in retail channels. However, with the second market share in this channel, Apple has surpassed Vsmart a little more if the total number of smartphones sold in the market in both traditional and online channels.

Calculating both channels in January, Vsmart sold 125,181 units, Apple sold 126,338 units, or 1,157 devices (or 0.9%, Vsmart caught up with Apple).

According to an analysis of an industry expert, Vsmart had good sales thanks to a half-price reduction of Vsmart Live a few months ago, then a decrease of VND 2 million on the new Active 3 shortly, attracting many buyers.

In the upcoming project to popularize smartphones for the next 100% of people of the Ministry of Information and Communications, if Vsmart can participate in this project, the market share will continue to increase sharply, the analyst said.

However, with the continuous discount, he also said that Vsmart is determined to take market share rather than focus on profit.

According to GfK data, apart from Samsung and Oppo, which are firmly holding the first and second positions in the smartphone market, the third position of Apple is being strongly attacked by companies such as Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, Vsmart. The market share of these brands is quite similar and loses quite a lot compared to the second position of Oppo.
