Differences of Industry Revolution 4.0
Different from the 3rd Industrial Revolution (1950 – 1970) known as Digital Revolution or Information Age, the 4th Industrial Revolution brought process automation. Production to new heights using flexible and highly customizable mass production technology.
This means that machines will operate independently or in collaboration with humans in creating a customer-oriented manufacturing sector – an area that must constantly be operated to maintain itself. Also in Industry 4.0, machinery will become an independent entity capable of collecting data, analyzing and advising the manufacturing industry. As for the human role, the producer communicates with the machine instead of controlling it. The biggest difference of this Revolution is the actual connection between people, machines and objects.
Smart factories were born
The Industrial Revolution 4.0 creates favorable conditions for smart factories (Smart Factory) to be born. This is an environment where machines and processes can improve through automation and optimization. According to Forbes, “a smart factory can be defined as a place where a virtual physical network (Cyber physical system) communicates based on the Internet of Things (IoT) to support people and machines in work done “.
Therefore, in order to build a smart factory, besides conditions such as advanced equipment and highly qualified human resources, manufacturers need to build an information technology system (Information Technology) platform. . This platform acts as a language, a common mode of communication between people and machines. MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is such a platform.
Manufacturing Execution System (MES) – a tool to build intelligent factories.
As a standard integrated information system, MES not only serves as an information center between different business systems, but also manages and optimizes operations and processes in the complete manufacturing life cycle. Adjustment of the factory in real time. MES takes on every role of the production process from the issuance of orders to the stage of product delivery to the sales department. As a result, businesses can balance the use of equipment to achieve the highest efficiency and adjust production costs according to orders to increase or decrease the intensity of exploitation for that equipment.
This system will be further explained in the online Workshop “Manufacturing Innovation 2020” which takes place from 8:45 to 10:10 on April 14, 2020. The seminar, organized by CMC Technology & Solution, in collaboration with HPE and Samsung SDS, will bring the main contents of MES and smart factory management solutions with IoT and AI applications in plant construction. clever.
