Samsung will no longer use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip on Galaxy S21 (S30), instead only using Exynos chip

Some leaked information revealed that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875 processor will cost $ 250, up to $ 100 more than the Snapdragon 865. Because of this significant price increase, Samsung is expected to use the chip. Snapdragon 865 on Galaxy S21 (S30) smartphones, launched early next year.

Snapdragon 875 is manufactured on the 5nm process, instead of 7nm as Snapdragon 865, helping to increase performance and reduce power consumption. Besides, this processor also has a built-in 5G modem chip, instead of detaching as the previous generation. Therefore, Qualcomm has the basis to increase the price of this high-end processor line.

Recently, a new rumor has appeared. That is all Galaxy S21 (S30) versions will be equipped with Exynos 1000 chip, manufactured by Samsung. This is unprecedented before, because the Exynos chips are always underestimated by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon.

However, the Exynos 1000 promises many improvements, especially also produced on the new generation 5nm process. The price of the Exynos chip will also be cheaper, so Samsung can keep the price of the Galaxy S21 (S30) at a reasonable level.

This rumor seems reasonable. Because the use of Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 865+ chips will make Galaxy S21 (S30) difficult to compete with other competitors, especially when Apple is also preparing to move to the next generation 5nm chips. At the same time, Samsung does not want to have to raise its product price even further, using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875 chips.

Some other smartphone manufacturers like Google and LG also do not want to use Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon chip anymore, because the price is too high. Instead, they use the mid-range Snapdragon 700 series chips to equip upcoming flagships.
