Samsung will no longer be the exclusive display supplier for iPhone SE 2

Tram Ho

LG is in talks with Apple to supply LCD screens for the iPhone SE 2. According to Korean website The Elec, its panels are currently undergoing final quality testing to be included on the iPhone. Good is expected to launch in early 2020.

Apple's continued use of LCD screens for the iPhone SE 2 is certainly not a surprise, given the relatively low price (compared to other iPhone models) of this device. According to some previous reports, the next-generation iPhone SE (possibly called iPhone SE 2) will have a 4.7-inch screen similar to the iPhone 8. This has disappointed some iPhone fans. The first SE, which has a 4-inch screen, is ideal to hold and use with one hand.

There have been a lot of rumors about the iPhone SE 2 appearing in the past few weeks. The most detailed information was given by veteran analyst Ming-Chi Kuo: he predicted the device would look like the iPhone 8, with thick screen bezels and a Home button with Touch ID, but inside is the A13 Bionic chip. and 3GB of RAM.

Kuo also predicts that the device will be available in Space Gray, Silver and Red, with two internal memory options of 64GB and 128GB. Like the iPhone 11 series, the iPhone SE 2 will not have 3D Touch – instead it's a Haptic Touch software solution. Kuo offers a price for the iPhone SE 2 of $ 399 in the US.

Considering that Apple has always chosen Samsung as the main screen supplier for the iPhone, the move to LG on the upcoming good-priced iPhone is a pretty smart move. Of course, the deal is not yet complete, and Apple may reconsider it at the last minute.

The iPhone SE 2 may not be the last name of the device – it may be called the iPhone 8S or iPhone 9. The device is expected to launch by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
