Samsung starts updating Android 12 beta for Galaxy S21 users

Tram Ho

Samsung says it is rolling out the public beta of Android 12 operating system to Galaxy S21 devices. This announcement comes just a few weeks before Android 12 is officially updated for the first time for Pixel smartphones. Samsung says that it is trying to roll out new updates earlier than every year.

Users can start signing up to receive the Android 12 beta update from September 14, the same day Apple’s iPhone 13 launches. Registration will be through the Samsung Members app and may be subject to a limit on the number of participants.

However, this update is actually Samsung’s One UI 4, although it is also based on Android 12 but has interface changes. As we all know, the biggest change of Android 12 is the very new “Material You” interface, so users may not be able to experience this new interface on Samsung smartphones.

At the moment, we still don’t know how much of Google’s design language Samsung will use. Samsung just said that the new operating system will have many theme options to help change the main interface and highly customizable to your liking.

Widgets will also be upgraded, redesigned, and offer deeper customization. Users will also have many new emojis and can be used anywhere in the operating system.

Samsung is also starting to apply indicators, to let users know that an app is accessing and using the microphone or camera.

We’ve already seen Android 12’s new Material You interface. But it will be interesting to see how these changes are carried over to other Android smartphones.
