Samsung started building the largest R&D center in Southeast Asia in Vietnam

The construction of the new Research and Development Center (R&D) was quickly implemented after two meetings between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Samsung Group Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong in 2018 in Hanoi and 2019. in Seoul, South Korea. There, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his desire to make Samsung Vietnam the largest global strategic production site in all aspects of the Group as well as stress the importance of having a large-scale R&D center. big Samsung in Vietnam.

Samsung’s new R&D center is expected to be completed by the end of 2022

According to Samsung Vietnam, the new R&D Center has an investment of about 220 million USD with a total construction area of ​​11,603 m2 and a floor area of ​​79,511 m2. The building is designed with 16 floors, 3 basements and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

In addition to modern facilities and equipment for research in the field of mobile and network systems, the Center also provides an innovative and user-friendly working environment with facilities such as a gym. , clubroom, internal cafeteria and sky garden…

It is expected that when it comes into operation, the Center will increase its human resources from 2,200 people to 3,000 people.

This center is the first building built by Samsung Electronics overseas to serve the Group’s research and development. And this is also the R&D center built with the largest scale among the centers of FDI enterprises in Vietnam.

Through the construction of a modern R&D center, Samsung expects the Vietnamese engineers’ research capabilities to be enhanced, not only in product development but also in research areas that are trending. of the world such as artificial intelligence (AI), everything connected (IoT), big data (Big Data), 5G network … create a premise for Vietnam to be able to stay ahead of the changes of the revolution. Currently, the total investment capital of Samsung Group in Vietnam is more than 17 billion USD, of which Samsung Electronics accounts for 9.5 billion USD with the first presence is a phone factory in Bac Ninh province. in 2008, followed by the second phone factory in Thai Nguyen province; household production and television complex in Ho Chi Minh City and Research and Development Center in Hanoi.

The construction of a new R&D center is a huge step forward for Samsung in the past 12 years of investment in Vietnam. Through this project, Samsung Vietnam said that Vietnam will not only be the largest production base of Samsung but also a strategic center for research and development of the Group.
