The Galaxy S22 series is rumored to include at least three versions, of which the highest-end one could feature a dedicated S Pen slot and Note-like design elements. The recently shared renders depict what could be the Galaxy S22 Ultra, leaving the promised parts aside (such as the S Pen slot and the luxurious metal frame), so to speak. Most of us hate the design of the camera cluster.

Unofficial renders of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ show that these two versions will refine the existing camera cluster design that appeared on the Galaxy S21 series.

On the other hand, the design of the camera cluster on the Galaxy S22 Ultra seems to “take a step back” with a less modern design, not surrounding the upper left corner of the phone. Instead, the initial leaks show that the cluster of the Galaxy S22 Ultra looks like it is “attached” to the back by Samsung, even with a part that protrudes completely. This design is outdated and was applied on Samsung products a few years ago.
Samsung has used many different design languages over the years, but the company has achieved what can be said to be great design when it launched the Galaxy S21 series earlier this year. The new design language has been refined and looks more refined than any previous design language.
Assuming that the leaked renders of the Galaxy S22 Ultra are close to accurate, Samsung seems to have lost confidence in its previous design decisions.
All in all, the Galaxy S21 Ultra has one of the best camera cluster designs in years. With just a few months until the next Galaxy Unpacked event, it would be worrying if Samsung messed up the design again.
Do you like the wraparound camera case design like the Galaxy S21, or do you think Samsung should really go back to an older design for the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra?
