Samsung launches Odyssey Ark: 55-inch 4K 165Hz curved gaming monitor, priced at $3,500

After the world’s first 240Hz 4K monitor, Samsung recently introduced a new gaming monitor model called Odyssey Ark. This is a 55-inch super-large gaming monitor, using a curved panel with 4K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.

The Odyssey Ark has a design quite different from Samsung’s previous Odyssey gaming monitors. The product has a new, slimmer base that is less aggressive. The curved screen in front has a curvature of 1000R, a size as large as 55 inches, a resolution of 4K and a display ratio of 16: 9.

According to Samsung, the company has equipped a Quantum Mini LED panel that supports local dimming with 1056 different zones, combined with 14-bit processing capability to reproduce 16,384 black levels and for a contrast ratio of 1,000,000 :first. This monitor supports Quantum HDR 2000 and has a maximum brightness of 2000 nits, coated with anti-glare and anti-reflective coating.

The refresh rate of the screen is 165Hz, supports FreeSync Premium Pro, 1ms GtG response rate. Samsung says with Neural Quantum Processor Ultra technology, games can be upscaled to 4K resolution.

The Odyssey Ark has a stand that can be rotated vertically. The screen on the back has support for VESA 200, 300 or 400 standards, integrated with a 4-speaker system with a large capacity of 60W. Samsung says the 55-inch Odyssey Ark gives a workspace equivalent to 4 22.5-inch screens combined, or 3 screens when in portrait mode. The product comes with a solar-powered Ark Dial remote similar to recent Samsung TV models.

Besides, Odyssey Ark is not just an ordinary screen, Samsung installs Tizen operating system for the product, turning this screen into a smart gaming monitor, supporting Amazon Alexa and SmartThings modes .

The price of the Odyssey Ark is 3500 USD.
