Samsung launches Galaxy A42 5G: Snapdragon 750G chip, 6.6 inch OLED screen, 4 rear cameras, 5,000 mAh battery, priced at only $ 455

Samsung has just officially launched the Galaxy A42 5G, the latest smartphone in the mid-range A-series and especially with support for 5G technology. Galaxy A42 is currently Samsung’s cheapest 5G smartphone, with a selling price of £ 349 (about $ 455).

Galaxy A42 is equipped with Snapdragon processor 750G, the latest mid-range processor from Qualcomm. However, the Snapdragon 750G has slightly worse performance than the Snapdragon 765G, which is found in the Pixel 4A 5G or OnePlus Nord.

The smartphone has a 6.6-inch OLED screen, waterdrop design, with a 20MP selfie camera. 4GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB storage expandable with a microSD card, 5,000 mAh battery capacity. There is a fingerprint sensor integrated under the screen.

On the back, Galaxy A42 has 4 rear cameras placed in a square module. 48MP main sensor, 8MP super wide-angle camera, 5MP macro camera and 5MP depth sensor for creating effects when taking portrait photos.

Galaxy A42 has 3 colors: black, gray and white. The dorsal design is quite special with the color transition from bottom to top, the darker the color goes up the higher. The Galaxy A42 will start shipping in the UK on November 6, and Samsung hasn’t revealed availability in other markets around the world yet.

With the launch of the Galaxy A42, Samsung wants to take over the mid-range 5G smartphone segment. There is a OnePlus Nord in that segment right now, with a UK price tag of £ 379. However, it is likely that Samsung will soon lower the price of the Galaxy A42, like the Galaxy A51 5G previously sold in the US for a lower price to $ 175.
