Samsung launched a new pair of Galaxy Book laptops, which can charge smartphones with the touchpad

At the Samsung Developers Conference 2019, the Korean giant launched two new laptops, the Galaxy Book Flex and the Galaxy Book Ion. In particular, Flex is a laptop that can be transformed into a tablet, while Ion is a traditional laptop model. Interestingly, however, both laptops feature wireless charging for smartphones using the touchpad.

Both new Galaxy Book laptops have a light, thin design, the Galaxy Book Ion weighs only 0.95 kg. Meanwhile, the hardware configuration is very strong, with the latest 10th generation Intel processor, Wi-Fi 6 support, QLED display, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB hard drive capacity.

Galaxy Book Flex is a more advanced version, with a 360-degree hinge design that can help this laptop to formulate the tablet. The laptop also features a new S Pen stylus similar to the Galaxy Note 10, with Bluetooth connectivity that can be controlled remotely (like a PowerPoint presentation).

Because the Galaxy Book Flex can convert the interface to a tablet with a touch screen, the S Pen will be very useful for artists, designers, and photo editors. Unfortunately, the maximum screen resolution is only Full HD +, not 4K.

The Galaxy Book Ion is a traditional clamshell laptop, without a touchscreen and without an S Pen. This is a thin and light laptop for simple business and entertainment, suitable for business people. The ultra-thin laptop is only 12.9mm thick. Despite that still have a strong configuration.

Both laptops have 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch screen versions, both with fingerprint sensors on the keyboard.

In addition, the most interesting feature of the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion is that it allows wireless charging of smartphones with the touchpad. With this feature, you can charge your Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 10 right from the laptop’s touchpad.

However, to charge the battery requires the smartphone to occupy the entire touchpad, meaning that you can not perform any operations on the touchpad. For the Galaxy Book Flex with touch screen, you can replace these mouse movements, but it seems that charging the battery with the touchpad is still quite inconvenient.

Samsung will sell the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion in December of this year, but the price has not been revealed.
