Samsung Galaxy S21 running Snapdragon 875 chip recently appeared on Geekbench performance measurement page. While Galaxy S21 version using Exynos 2100 chip also appeared on Geekbench 2 months ago. And if you compare the results between the two, you will see Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875 outperforming.
But it seems that Samsung has made the changes and improvements, to greatly increase the performance of the Exynos 2100 processor. According to Ice Universe, the Snapdragon 875 is completely defeated by the Exynos 2100.
First, Ice Universe revealed the specifications of the Exynos 2100 processor, which shows a higher clock speed compared to the Snapdragon 875.
Both the Snapdragon 875 and the Exynos 2100 are built on a 5nm process. The two also use the same ARM CPU architecture, consisting of one Cortex-X1 core, three Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores.
Compare the CPU core clock speed of Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 875.
According to Ice Universe, the Exynos 2100’s Cortex-X1 core will be clocked at 2.91GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores will run at 2.81Ghz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.21GHz.
Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 875 processor has Cortex-X1 cores running at 2.84GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.42Ghz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8Ghz.
It seems that Qualcomm will prioritize power consumption over processing performance. So does that mean that the Galaxy S21 that uses the Exynos 2100 chip will drain the battery more? We’ll have to wait and see.
According to the latest leak from Geekbench, the Galaxy S21 equipped with a Snapdragon 875 chip achieves a single-core performance score of 1,120 points and a multi-core 3,319 point. Meanwhile, Geekbench two months ago score of Galaxy S21 running Exynos 2100 chip is only 1,038 and 3060 points.
Really worried for Snapdragon 875, hopefully this isn’t the end result, otherwise it will be beaten by the Exynos 2100, with a multi-core performance score of 4000.
But it looks like Samsung has made some improvements, possibly increasing the clock speeds of the CPU cores. According to Ice Universe, the Snapdragon 875 chip will be beaten by the Exynos 2100, with a multi-core performance score of 4,000 points.
It is not clear where this figure was obtained by Ice Universe, but if it is true, the performance of the Exynos 2100 chip will be very impressive.
