Samsung confirms no new Galaxy Note this year

In the latest blog, President and Head of Samsung Mobile Communications Business TM Roh revealed that the new Galaxy Note will not be launched during the Unpacked event on August 11th. Instead, the company will bring beloved smartphone features to more Galaxy devices.

Samsung once hinted about skipping the Note in March when it reported business results. “It can be a burden to introduce two flagships in one year,” the company said. The fate of the Galaxy Note is not only because of the ongoing global chip crisis but also about the value of this smartphone, when the Samsung Galaxy S21 has support for the stylus.

Roh emphasized that its third generation of folding smartphones will be improved in durability, opening up many new multitasking features. Accordingly, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has a more refined style, combined with more durable and stronger materials.

Each generation of Samsung’s folding smartphone has been upgraded in terms of screen durability. A recent rumor suggests that two folding smartphones will be IPX8 waterproof.

Durability is an important factor for folding phones, and even more so with the Z Fold 3. According to Mr. Roh, Samsung will launch the first S Pen specifically for folding phones. Leaked images of 91mobiles show that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a new protective case, equipped with an S Pen slot located in the hinge.

Finally, Mr. Roh said Samsung is working with Google and Microsoft to better support multitasking on the Z Fold 3. Hopefully the big three are working together to standardize multitasking on Android. Since folding smartphones appeared, Samsung and Microsoft have come up with different ways of organizing and arranging windows on the screen.
