Samsung confirmed it will launch the Galaxy S21 soon, possibly in January 2021

Recent rumors suggest that Samsung may launch the Galaxy S21 smartphone line earlier than usual, possibly in December or January here. Samsung did not have any comment on these rumors, but Samsung has tacitly confirmed a change in launch plans.

Traditionally, Samsung typically launches new Galaxy S smartphones in February or March every year. But the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra are likely to launch earlier, in January 2021, and go on sale in the same month.

When asked about the launch date, a Samsung executive confirmed that the upcoming Unpack event schedule will be changed, in order to meet market demand.

Why did Samsung have to launch the Galaxy S21 earlier every year?

There are two main reasons why Samsung had to launch the Galaxy S21 earlier than every year. First, Galaxy S20 sales did not seem to meet initial expectations, followed by sales of the Galaxy Note20 were not really good either. Samsung wants to launch its next flagship smartphone earlier than every year to make up for lost sales.

Second, Samsung may want to grab the market share Huawei has left open. Although Huawei has also launched the Mate 40 series, it is highly likely that the smartphone will be limited in international markets, due to the lack of Google services and apps.

Some analysts also said that Samsung wants to limit the iPhone 12 will dominate sales, especially in its home market of Korea. Therefore, the early launch of the Galaxy S21 series is essential.
