Samsung coldly refuses to help Apple

Tram Ho

Apple is working to force Samsung to provide private app marketplace documentation to protect itself in the exclusive lawsuit. The iPhone manufacturer was accused by consumers and developers of blocking competitors from accessing the App Store.Apple’s control of the App Store has come to the fore recently after game maker Epic sued Apple for abuse of monopoly, harming developers. However, the fact that Tim Cook’s company has been involved in similar lawsuits in US courts for more than a decade.

One group of iPhone users reported that the 30% fee Apple charges developers for in-app purchases made apps more expensive, while another group of developers claimed they were in the wrong place. Bad status because of this 30% fee. In both cases, the group of petitioners claimed that Apple could only charge such fees by blocking competitors from accessing the App Store unfairly.

As an excuse, Apple obtained a document 14 years ago from Samsung on how to operate the Galaxy Store. Galaxy Store is a marketplace for users to download and buy applications to Android phones. Apple argues that even though Android has many different app markets, including Samsung and Samsung, it still charges 30%. So that fee is not the result of oligopoly.

Apple officially asked Samsung branch in the US about the above documents, including ” high-end internal documents on competition between mobile platforms ” as well as ” aggregated data from installed rates, use, revenue and efficiency of the Galaxy Store ”in March. But Apple lawyers said Samsung refused to give a clear response, partly because Samsung is in a competitive position with Apple. ” Instead of cooperating effectively with Apple, Samsung followed a stubborn and confusing line ,” said Apple attorneys.

Currently, Apple is applying for a court order to force Samsung to hand over the document. Samsung attorney said that this request is too unreasonable to require access to ” confidential research, trade secrets and other sensitive information ” of Samsung.

The lawsuit Apple is facing is assembled by numerous complaints from 2007 and will be handled in federal court. After the supreme court ruled that iPhone users could sue Apple because they were seen as app buyers.

Earlier this month, Epic sued Apple and Google for removing Fortnite from their respective app markets. Apple has always persisted in the view that it holds a small share of the global smartphone market, so it cannot be classified as a monopoly.
