Review POCO X3 NFC: Spicy noodle dish is attractive but not everyone likes to eat
- Tram Ho
Everyone is different and so is POCO
More than 2 years ago (August 27, 2018) Pocophone F1 had a debut that attracted Vietnamese users because of the starting price of 8 million VND for smartphones using the top CPU Snapdragon 845. Two years later, the POCO brand Newly re-exported with the successor model of Pocophone X2 Pro using the highest-end CPU in 2020, the Snapdragon 865, with the same price of 12 million VND (up 50%, a significant number). Following that we have the POCO X3 NFC model priced at 7 million VND with the highlights: 120Hz refresh rate screen, Snapdragon 732G processor.

I rate the POCO X3 NFC equipped with less outstanding for people to admire than what its elder has done in the mid-range segment. However, compared to the current common ground, this smartphone still has certain advantages that in this article I will dissect how attractive it really is.
Advantages of POCO X3 NFC

The first advantage to mention is that the 6.67-inch perforated screen has the highest scanning frequency in the current segment at 120Hz, a number that we usually only see in high-end products.

The biggest benefit when using a high-frequency screen is the smooth, clear display of details and motion effects like when you scroll web pages, social networks. The image above was shot at 120 fps and slows it down by six times so you can see more clearly the smoothness of the news page scrolling through.

The benefit of the 120Hz display in the game is another story that I advise you not to take the advertisement on. Although more and more games support high-frequency screens, except for some super-light pastimes, heavy names like World Of Tank, PUBG Mobile, even flagship Snapdragon 865 cannot afford the level. 120 fps frames to take advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate. In the picture is the World Of Tank game setup with a 120 fps option, but neither the POCO X3 NFC nor the flagship ROG Phone 3 can be turned on.

In addition to the frequency of scanning, the screen on the POCO X3 NFC uses an IPS panel for good display quality. The viewing angle is wide, the colors tend to be colorful enough for you to enjoy the video and images. The small minus point is that the maximum brightness is not really impressive to use comfortably in the hot sun

With the picture, the POCO X3 NFC is also very sound when this is a $ 7 million smartphone with a pair of stereo external speakers, one on the bottom edge and a built-in speakerphone on the top edge. The volume is not too loud, but the detail is better than those with only a single speaker

Possessing a Snapdragon 732G processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, POCO X3 NFC for slightly better performance when compared to other smartphones using Snapdragon 720G or Helio G90T

The power of the device is enough to play Lien District Mobile smoothly at 60 fps with the High graphics setting. With Genshin Impact, the player is stable at an average graphics level

The 5,160 mAh capacity battery that Xiaomi equips with its products offers impressive usage time. Although always turning on the scan frequency at 120Hz, the battery consumption of the POCO X3 NFC through tasks is relatively low. In actual use, I may not charge the device within 1.5 days

In the fast charging technology that comes with the 33W charger, it only takes about 1 hour to fully fully fill the 5,160 mAh capacity battery.

Besides Samsung, Xiaomi is also a company that integrates charging technology "mindful" when it is compatible with both Quick Charge and Power Delivery standards that POCO X3 NFC is an example of. The charger of the device supports both 27W of Quick Charge 4.0 besides 33W. You can easily take advantage of the 3rd party charger / power bank for fast charging

With a cluster of 4 64MP lenses (traditional wide-angle cam) + 13MP (ultra-wide angle) + 2MP (macro camera) + 2MP (depth sensor) at the rear and a 10MP selfie camera, overall quality of POCO X3 NFC Equivalent to competitors in the same segment

The photo interface in MIUI 12 has been simplified by Xiaomi to make it easier to use. Smart features such as auto HDR, AI, facial beautification, Night shooting still appear in full

The highlight is that with portrait mode, the device allows you to do many fun effects such as font correction, studio environment emulation, …

A typical feature that is almost only available in Xiaomi smartphones is an infrared sensor that allows you to control electronic devices in the home through an application called Control built in the device.

Compared to its competitors, the POCO X3 NFC achieved IP53 certification. This is a welcome point, but you need to understand how resistant it is to dust and water. Specifically, the machine is only partially dustproof and can withstand a small drizzle or accidentally splashing water. Falling into the water will still make it "teo" like many other smartphones without IP certificates and the company does not guarantee the case of dust or water.
Minus point on POCO X3 NFC

The appearance, especially the back of the product from Xiaomi, is not enough to catch the eye of the majority of users. From the design of the rear camera cluster to the POCO lettering and motifs that guide the part of users who love the pit, strong

Next is the very heavy machine, reaching 215 grams (not including the case) so using one hand or holding video for a long time is not comfortable at all on the POCO X3 NFC

Although the overall image quality and shooting features are not inferior to the competition, Xiaomi needs to improve the POCO X3 NFC with some shortcomings such as aberration error seen in the 64MP main camera. Realme 7, Vivo V20, OPPO Reno4 I have evaluated have not encountered this phenomenon

The automatic mode in low light is not effective when the device is processed in a way that increases ISO instead of automatically activating Night mode like in OPPO or Samsung.

When I struggled to find the Night mode located deep in the Other section, the camera produced a much better image from brightness to detail.

One more thing that limits the night photography experience with this smartphone. It's the night mode that doesn't work with the super wide-angle camera. This is an inherent equipment that is not ideal for low-light shooting because the sensor and aperture are very small, so the addition of night shooting will contribute to improving image quality.

And what I feel redundant is the suffix in the name of this smartphone. If it were the POCO X3, it was completely fine, but the fact that Xiaomi tried to insert the word NFC into the name and made the name long did not bring any practical benefits. The fact that NFC appears on the phone is no longer a new equipment and for the majority of Vietnamese users, this close-range communication is almost useless.

Who is the rival of POCO X3 NFC?

Realme 7 can be considered as the strongest competitor of the POCO X3 NFC because both the POCO and Realme brands make an impression with the good equipment / price factor. Realme 7 has parameters that are not inferior to many competitors with 90Hz screen, 5,000 mAh battery and Helio G90T processor. More on the representative of Realme's house is the elegant design, suitable for many types of users

OPPO A93 is priced at about 500,000 VND higher, but the advantage of stylish, thin and light design makes this smartphone easy to win the hearts of users. In addition, the camera, the more impressive AMOLED screen is the weapon to help OPPO's smartphone compete better against competitors from Xiaomi.

Vivo V20 is also a formidable opponent thanks to its shimmering look with outstanding glass materials and colors. Performance is not too different, good camera and AMOLED screen are also strong points that help this smartphone persuade users to spend about 1.49 million VND higher than POCO X3 NFC to own.
Conclude
Like a bowl of spicy noodles that looks attractive, but not everyone likes to experience this dish, POCO X3 NFC is not an ideal choice for everyone. Less eye-catching appearance, heavy and partly the highlight of the machine lacks the weight to make people pay attention and consider. Of course, when you weigh and count each bit with competitors in the same segment, you will see many advantages of this smartphone and know if it suits you or not.

The POCO X3 NFC is suitable for:
– Users need the most powerful smartphone possible in the 7 million VND price segment to battle games
– People appreciate the screen experience with the smoothness of 120Hz refresh rate, IPS panel for viewing angles, good colors
– Users need long battery life, fast charging and good compatibility with 3rd party charging accessories
POCO X3 NFC is not suitable for:
– People who need a smartphone with a luxurious design, thin and light
– People who love virtual selfie smartphones, good quality rear cameras with effective auto mode
