Qualcomm is working with Razer to launch a new handheld game console, powered by Qualcomm’s latest generation Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 processor. However, according to a leaked source of VideoCardz, this device is called “Snapdragon G3X Handheld Developer Kit”, which means a set of tools for developers.
It seems that Qualcomm’s ambition is aimed at developers, software manufacturers and game programmers, to help them have a new tool to build a mobile gaming ecosystem. This new mobile game ecosystem will be different from Android games, because it is dedicated to handheld game consoles, instead of smartphones.
Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 processor looks like it will have similar specs to the newly introduced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This will be a processor based on the 4nm process, 20% higher CPU performance and 30% higher GPU performance, more power saving, support for 10Gb/s 5G connectivity.
A few specifications of the Snapdragon G3X Handheld Developer Kit handheld game console manufactured by Razer were also revealed. This device will support DisplayPort over USB-C, has a 6,000 mAh battery, a 1080p webcam, an ergonomic handle design with all the familiar controls and analog sticks.
OLED panel screen, 120Hz frequency and HDR support. The device also supports 5G mmWave, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. According to VideoCardz, this device can also livestream games without supporting software.
Unfortunately, there is no word on a commercial release. It is possible that Razer’s gaming machine will be only for developers, or there will be another version for general users, but it has not been revealed.
