Quick ‘dissection’ of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro

Tram Ho

MacBook Pro 2021 with a thicker design, multi-core chip and return of useful ports is receiving the attention of many iFan. These two 14-inch and 16-inch models were soon available to users in some countries such as New Zealand, Australia on October 26.

Then a day later, a Reddit user quickly posted some dissecting images of the latest MacBook Pro and shared some interesting information around Apple’s retro design.

Inside the latest 14-inch MacBook Pro…

According to this guy, the MacBook Pro 2021 has quite the same recognition as the 2012-2016 MacBook Pro, when Apple uses a petal-shaped screw, a special screwdriver is required to open it. The battery is also not tightly glued into a block, but can be easily pulled apart to make replacement easier.

But the keyboard part becomes part of the body, so it’s not easy to replace, while the I/O port is modular, so it’s easier to replace. The body also has a fan located parallel to each other, larger than the old 13-inch MacBook Pro but seems smaller than the 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro.

… and the 16-inch version has a layout that doesn’t differ too much.

Another dissecting image on Twitter shows the M1 Max chip on a rather large 16-inch MacBook Pro. The RAM compartment is divided into four stacked cells, located between the two cooling fans and the heat pipe. Such a design is quite convenient for equipment maintenance.

Both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models have the same two cooling fans with the same 6 battery packs and the same speaker system.

However, the disassembly of the device is done by amateurs and we need to wait a few more days before experts like iFixit publish a detailed ‘dissection’ video.
