POCO is a sub-brand of Xiaomi, aiming to create phones with high configuration, integrating many features at low prices. In Vietnam, POCO has built a certain amount of interest thanks to products such as POCO F2 Pro (5G, Snapdragon 865, price 10 million) or POCO X3 (120Hz screen, Snapdragon 732G chip, priced at 6 million VND).
Recently, in order to continue to expand the product segment, POCO has continued to launch the M3 model at the price of 3.99 million dong (64GB version) and 4.49 million dong (128GB version). At some e-commerce floors, users can buy the machine at significantly cheaper prices of 3.09 and 3.59 million dong.
Configure POCO M3:
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 662
– RAM: 4GB
– Internal memory: 64GB / 128GB (support memory card)
– Rear camera: 48MP (main) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (distance measurement)
Front camera: 8MP
– Battery: 6000mAh
Connectivity: Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack
(*) Due to negligence, our POCO M3 glass was broken during use. However, the rest of the machine components (including sensors) are still working completely normally and do not affect the evaluation results. However, some images in the post will show the appearance of a broken machine that we cannot fix – and we hope readers sympathize with that.
Advantages of POCO M3
Because it is a cheap product, so it is not surprising that POCO M3 is made entirely of plastic. But, POCO’s manipulation of imitation leather on the back of M3 has made the plastic material of this product become less expensive. Plus a large camera cluster with a large POCO logo, it can be said that the POCO M3 has a quite personality design.
6000mAh battery capacity of POCO M3 for excellent usage time. With normal usage intensity, POCO M3 can completely “stay” for 2 days. As for heavy duty, the device can help users to use comfortably for 1 day.
The “huge” battery capacity of POCO M3 also allows this device to be turned into a backup battery and charge for other devices.
Although cheap, but POCO does not hesitate to give the user a charger with a capacity of up to 22.5W. Through testing, users can charge a 6000mAh battery from 0 to 50% within 1 hour.
The POCO M3’s Snapdragon 662 chip is enough for users to “battle” on today’s popular games. Through testing, four League of Legends games: Quick War, League of Legends, Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile can be played if the user adjusts the graphics to a medium / low level.
This is an extremely rare model in the segment equipped with dual speaker systems. With dual speakers, the sound experience on the POCO M3 is much better, users do not experience an ear deflection as with other phones with single speakers.
The fingerprint sensor on the side of the device offers fast unlocking speed, while the safety is simply designed for the back.
18-month warranty period of POCO M3 is longer than most other manufacturers, giving users peace of mind during use.
Disadvantages of POCO M3
Although the Snapdragon 662 chip for the performance is not too bad, the lag situation is quite clear. One of the reasons for this is most likely due to Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 interface which is packed with too many features (Video source: Martijn Wester).
In fact, POCO M3 comes with some junk software like Amazon Shopping, Booking.com, IQIYI, LinkedIn. This is considered one of the measures to help Xiaomi achieve the cheap price of POCO M3. Users should remove these applications if there is no need to use them.
In some system applications, the user may see the appearance of the ad. This is another measure by Xiaomi to “subsidize” the product, but it can make users feel uncomfortable.
According to the parameters, POCO M3 has 3 cameras, making many people mistakenly think that the machine will be able to take good pictures. However, in fact, out of the 3 cameras there are 2 cameras that take macro photos and measure distances, which bring very little value to the user. The absence of the ultrawide camera makes the POCO M3 somewhat inferior to the majority of smartphones on the market today.
Video recording capabilities of the POCO M3 are also not really good: the details are flat, vibrating and the sound is not realistic
Who is the competitor of POCO M3?
Joy 4 is the latest cheap smartphone of the Vietnamese brand Vsmart with the price of 3.29 (3GB RAM) and 3.59 million VND (4GB RAM). It has a more trendy “punch hole” screen design, a more powerful Snapdragon 665 chip, has an ultra-wide-angle camera and an equivalent 18-month warranty period. However, Joy 4 is inferior in speaker quality, 5000mAh battery capacity is also slightly inferior to the 6000mAh level of POCO M3.
Active 3 is another smartphone model of Vsmart, launched a year ago and now has a discount of only about 3 million dong. Active 3 is equipped with AMOLED screen “no defects” with display quality and user experience far beyond other models with LCD screen, including POCO M3. However, the battery life of the Active 3 is much worse than POCO M3, both in terms of parameters and practical experience.
OPPO A15 is OPPO’s latest model in the low-cost segment. However, this model does not have any outstanding features in terms of design, configuration and features, so POCO M3 will be a better choice.
Similar to OPPO A15, Samsung Galaxy A11 also outperforms POCO M3 in every respect. The brand is probably the only strong point of this product.
When owning a cheap smartphone, users will be forced to trade many factors. For some products in the same segment, many manufacturers have reduced many important factors such as configuration (CPU, RAM) or screen (resolution), thereby making the basic user experience. severely affected.
With POCO M3, Xiaomi has made suitable cuts so that users do not feel uncomfortable when using this machine. It has decent performance for basic tasks, a screen that’s sharp enough for work and entertainment, an acceptable camera, and great battery life.
Naturally, users will encounter problems such as slowing down when multitasking, no ultra-wide-angle camera or a screen that is not bright enough in the sun. However, those are all acceptable downsides – because after all, the POCO M3 is just a smartphone for more than 3 million dong.
However, we believe that users should only buy this device at the sale price (3.09 and 3.59 million), because at the listed price (3.99 / 4.49 million VND), users can completely find the better product.
