Origami style computer mouse, easily folds flat to fit in a carry-on bag

Although there are several types of computer mice on the market today with compact designs, they are often just smaller and more difficult to use versions of the regular computer mouse. But Air.0 is different, this is a full-sized Bluetooth mouse, with an origami-inspired design, that can be folded and flattened for easy storage.

Invented by product designer Horace Lam, the device is currently the highlight of a Kickstarter fundraising campaign. It weighs 40 g and when folded flat is only 4.5 mm thin. The one exception, however, is the area containing its infrared optical sensor, which will have a height of 10 mm.

To convert it into a usable three-way form, users simply fold and join its two sides together via a magnetic connector. The Air.0 can then be used just like a regular mouse, with left and right mechanical buttons on the sides and a scroll pad in the middle. It has a water-resistant leather cover, with hard plastic “sliders” at each corner allowing it to be easily moved across surfaces like countertops.

Air.0 works like a regular mouse, except that it can be folded.

A single charge of its 3.7V/500 mAh lithium-polymer battery is said to provide up to three months of use. It has tracking speeds (IPS – Inch Per Second) of up to 762 mm per second and is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled Apple, Android and Windows devices.

According to the manufacturer, if successfully raising capital to put into production, Air.0 will have a committed price for investors of 49 USD with 12 colors to choose from. The expected retail price after that is 69 USD.
