Unlike the WF-XB700, which has the best price in Sony ‘s true-wireless line, the WF-SP800N is somewhat higher and has a lower configuration than the WF-1000XM3 version launched in 2019. Compared to XB700, the This SP800N has more upgrade points, most notably water and dust resistant to IP55 so users can wear to exercise without worrying about damaging the ear.
Right from the box, you can see Sony promoting water resistance features with rubber pads hooked inside the earcups to comfortably maneuver without worrying about falling.
Sony’s way of packaging is true to date: printing lots of information, detailed instructions and dividing compartments for separate accessories.
The version I borrowed on hand is orange and from my point of view this is the most beautiful of the four color options of the WF-SP800N. The remaining 3 colors include: white, black and blue.
The complete set of accessories you will get when you buy SP800N, including rubber earbuds of different sizes, USB-C charging cable is quite short and unfortunately, there is no bag to protect this lovely charger box. The advice of the writer is that you should look to buy a velvet bag to hold SP800N, if not after a while it will “down” quickly.
Color is a huge plus on this headset. If white and black were the two tones that every company made, now Sony also makes a difference, wearing headphones between cafes also looks more prominent.
Arc-shaped rubber cushions to secure inside the earcups so you can wear them while exercising without worrying about falling out. If you don’t like it, you can still remove it because this rubber cushion and earplugs are two separate parts.
Connecting to a headset is also very quick. Sony has a Headphones app so users can customize their ears more. Here you can customize Ambient Sound levels, equalizers, change touch gestures.
As someone who has previously worn the WF-1000XM3, I prefer this XB700 and SP800N in lightness and compactness. If the XB700 is controlled entirely by physical buttons, the SP800N inherits the ability to touch on both ears like the 1000XM3. The touch screen is polished and recessed so that the user can easily locate touches.
By default, when you touch a touch pad on the left ear, you will enable / disable Ambient Sound feature, switch Noise canceling mode. When holding the left pad, the headset will temporarily turn off the music, use the microphone to record external sounds so you can clearly hear your surroundings. This Quick Attention feature is extremely useful when you are needing to pause to discuss work with colleagues, or when walking “listening” to the surroundings to cross roads safer … without having to Take off the headset.
With the right ear, one touch will pause / play the song, tap twice to next, tap three times to go back to the previous song and press and hold to activate Google Assistant.
According to Sony, the WF-SP800N uses a 6mm driver, has a battery life of up to 18 hours (when using the same charging box and turn on noise canceling), fast charging with 10 minutes and an additional 60 minutes of music playback, connecting 2 ears simultaneously. via Bluetooth 5.0.
Currently these headphones are priced at 4,790,000 VND.
