iPhone 12 series has been sold in Vietnam from November 27th and immediately received great attention from consumers. The attraction of the iPhone 12 not only comes from upgrades in design or features, but also because of its reasonable price and very early “arrival time” compared to portable products.

Previously, the FPT Shop system shared with us that the number of orders for iPhone 12 was “on par with the peak period of the iPhone with the iPhone 6/6 Plus model in 2014 with record sales”. Another agent, CellphoneS, also said that the number of orders for iPhone 12 was 3 times higher than the same period last year.

High demand from customers with the iPhone 12 has created many consequences, including severe shortages of two high-end iPhone models, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Users will have to wait weeks, even more than a month to own a new iPhone.

Not only iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, another product that is also experiencing a shortage in Vietnam is … iPhone charger. On the iPhone 12 generation, Apple has removed the charger and earphones in the box and only “donated” the USB-C to Lightning cable. This makes users forced to use the old charger or buy more if not already. Apple said the removal of the charger is a measure to “protect the environment”, but many people believe that this is a way for Apple to increase profits by selling accessories.

In fact, this statement is completely grounded. The cable that comes with the new iPhone is based on the USB-C standard, and the majority of users are still using the charger with a USB-A output, which is not compatible with this cable. So, most iPhone 12 users will still have to buy more chargers.

To meet this demand, in parallel with the iPhone 12, Apple has launched a new charger with standard USB-C output and 20W capacity. This charger is sold by many retailers at a “promotional” price of VND 490,000 when customers buy with iPhone 12.

After nearly a week of selling iPhone 12, many major systems are hanging “out of stock” signs for this charger. Meanwhile, a number of other systems and stores, though still in stock, pushed the price up to double the level of VND 990,000.

This is a relatively confusing thing, because the price that Apple sets for this charger is only 19 USD (equivalent to 440,000 VND if converted to Vietnamese currency). But in Vietnam, the listed price is up to 990,000 dong, while the price that users should be enjoying is 490,000 dong is considered the “sale” price.

It must be confirmed that on the market today there are many manufacturers of iPhone chargers and cables for the same quality, even better than Apple. However, users still prefer to buy Apple chargers because of the brand synchronization with the device they use. Not to mention, some people still fear when buying products from strange brands.
