IHS Markit said this is the highest market share that Samsung has achieved in the last 6 years. The next position belongs to another Korean tech giant LG with 16.5% market share. Sony of Japan is the third largest TV provider in the world with 8.8% market share in the period from April to June.

Over the past 10 years, Samsung has consistently been the market leader in TV production

Samsung’s statistics are even better when talking about high-end TVs (including models larger than 75 inches and priced at $ 2,500). More than 50% of high-end TVs are sold during this time produced by Samsung. IHS Markit predicts Samsung will continue to consolidate its leading position in the future high-end segment.

Samsung is currently using Micro LED and Quantum Dot LED screens for their TVs. The company has long argued that OLED screens are not suitable for TVs. However, they are now planning to combine quantum dot LED and OLED technologies to create a hybrid screen. Samsung can use QD-OLED panels in future TV products. The company is closing one of its LCD factories and is likely to renovate it to produce QD-OLED displays.
