Today (September 10), Motorola has officially launched the Razr 5G – its latest folding screen smartphone. In addition to the addition of 5G network connectivity, the handset comes with significant improvements over last year’s Razr, including stronger specs, a refined design, and optimized software for bring a better experience for users.
The Razr 5G has an aluminum chassis and a glass back, which is much more luxurious and durable than the plastic back of its predecessor. In addition, the machine is also lighter, the “chin” is thinner and the fingerprint sensor is placed higher to bring the most comfortable feeling to use.
Motorola says the hinge of the Razr 5G has been optimized quite a lot and has a durability of up to 200,000 folds. To put it simply, even if the user opens / closes the phone 100 times a day, it will take 5 years to start deteriorating.
The screen of the Razr 5G is still a 6.2-inch pOLED panel, but the surrounding cover and support mechanism will keep it as “stretch and smooth” as regular glass screens, while at the same time better dustproof.
On the inside, the Motorola Razr 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of memory. Compared to the Snapdragon 710 chipset on last year’s model, the Razr 5G has a much more powerful configuration, though still far behind the Snapdragon 865+ chip on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
Motorola still equips the Razr 5G with a secondary gOLED 2.7 screen on the outside, but it’s completely improved on the software. Users can open and run apps right on the secondary screen, instead of just displaying notifications as before.
The Razr 5G comes with a 2800mAh capacity battery that supports 15W TurboPower fast charging. It has a 48MP main camera with f / 1.7 aperture, OIS and laser autofocus on the back, as well as a 20MP f / 2.2 selfie camera on the front.
In terms of software, the Razr 5G will use Motorola’s minimalistic user interface based on Android 10, which will support operating system updates until Android 12.
As expected, Motorola will start selling the Razr 5G in the US, China and select markets in Europe this fall. The phone retails for $ 1399 (about 32.4 million), comes with 3 color options: Black, Silver and Gold.
