Motorola demonstrates wireless power transmission technology: charging 4 devices at the same time at a distance of 3 m

Xiaomi was the first major brand to demonstrate true wireless charging technology, introducing the Mi Air Charge solution earlier this year that allows users to charge their devices without having to connect or place them on the charging dock. Motorola is also quick to say that it is working on such a charging technology, the company recently provided a video demonstrating this charging technology.

Motorola’s official Weibo account posted a video about Space Charging technology. At the first demo, the company showed the ability to charge 2 devices simultaneously within a meter radius, but Motorola has improved more in this demonstration.

The company says its Space Charging technology now allows up to four devices to charge at the same time at a distance of up to three meters. Motorola claims this charging station offers 100-degree charging coverage.

Motorola also says that the Space Charging station has 1,600 antennas, can penetrate paper and other obstacles, and can pause charging in a specific area when a human body is detected.

Motorola doesn’t give information about the maximum charging speed, but leaker Digital Chat Station says the maximum charging speed is currently 5W, which is quite slow in the age of 4,000mAh and 5,000mAh batteries. So you should use wired charging if you want fast charging.

However, the slow speed makes sense if the phone is charged this way for long periods of time. Charging up to 5W is also not a problem for other accessories, such as Bluetooth headphones or smartwatches.
