The issuance of bans on TikTok, a Chinese video production and sharing app used by more than 100 million Americans, is spreading across the United States, not just in states with party leaders. These bans were issued in the context of US public concerns about the security risk to user data in the US while negotiations between US authorities and TikTok are still stalled.

Some other states are also considering similar bans, even going so far as to ban other apps from China, such as Wechat or Alipay.
