Minister Nguyen Manh Hung: When we deploy 5G, we will have 5G equipment in Vietnam

Delegate Nguyen Lan Hieu (An Giang province) asked the Minister of Information and Communication: “Is the deployment of 5G technology in Vietnam slow compared to other countries and investment efficiency?”.

Answering questions of delegates, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that Vietnam is not slow to make 5G. In 2019, we tested technical technology. In 2020, when the world telecom alliance announces the standard, we run a commercial test, start a business for a fee, and in 2021 will roll out on a large scale.

Looking back on the past history of Vietnam, 2G we go along with the world, we implemented in 1992, standard was born in 1990 and we reached the top of the world. But to 3G, 4G, we are 7-8 years slower, ranked 108 in 2017, this year to 77.

Regarding the question of whether it will be costly to deploy 5G soon, the Minister said, Vietnam will deploy 5G in phases. Phase 1 will work in big cities, crowded centers to support congested 4G, and deploy in industrial zones, research zones, universities to serve new technology, no cost. big. We are also deploying 5G based on 4G’s inherent infrastructure. Station buildings, antenna poles, transmission … 70% are reusable and with the spirit of sharing infrastructure.

Currently, the Ministry of Information and Communication has proposed businesses to develop a plan that this year will issue regulations on sharing 5G infrastructure, including sharing equipment.
