Kuo believes that Apple will launch iPhone with both Face ID and Touch ID fingerprint sensor under the screen for 2 years next.

Ming-Chi Kuo believes that in the next 18 months many technical issues will be solved. Therefore, Apple will be able to provide users with the highest level of experience, which they always try to achieve on their devices.

Kuo thinks that facial recognition and fingerprint sensors are complementary and he believes that Apple wants to unify these two experiences together. Currently Apple has patented the fingerprint sensor technology under the screen, a move proving that they continue to study Touch ID and not give up completely.

However, current technology limitations such as power consumption, sensor area size, sensor module thickness and speed of fingerprint sensor production under the screen make Apple apprehensive. Therefore, Kuo believes that when these problems are solved in the next year or more, Apple will be ready to integrate both fingerprint sensors under the screen and Face ID into the iPhone 2021.
