This information was recently released by veteran analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In addition to assembling iPads, Kuo predicts that BYD will also replace Quanta (Taiwan) as the sole iPod Touch assembly partner for Apple this year.

If performed well, BYD may even receive more orders from Apple in 2021.

This is believed to be the first time BYD has assembled a handset, especially for Apple. However, Kuo believes that BYD will take at least 5-6 years to have enough experience and basis to assemble iPhone as Apple’s “nail” partners Foxconn or Pegatron.

In addition to the iPad and iPod Touch, Kuo also predicts that manufacturer Goertek will begin assembling AirPods Pro headphones in the first half of this year. The addition of a second supplier besides Luxshare Precision is expected to help increase AirPods sales in the context of many predictions that AirPods sales will continue to increase sharply in the near future.

Luxshare, meanwhile, is expected to soon replace Quanta as a manufacturer and supplier of the exclusive S-series chip on Apple Watch from 2020.

Foxconn is currently a major iPhone assembler company. This Taiwanese company currently has many large assembly plants in China and India.
