Microsoft has officially launched the new Edge Chromium browser: Like Chrome, with the same extension, can be downloaded

Microsoft has just officially launched its new Edge Chromium browser on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. The stable version is now available for download. The Edge Chromium browser project, unveiled a year ago by Microsoft, is aimed at business users, but is now available for download and use.

In the coming months, Microsoft will automatically update the new version of the Edge Chromium browser for Windows 10 users, to completely replace the previous built-in browser. Microsoft will also release Edge Chromium for OEMs, so we’ll see computers with this new browser soon.

Although Edge Chromium has been officially released and has a stable download, there are still a few features that users are familiar with when using Chrome. Web history synchronization and extension synchronization are both missing. However, users can still synchronize passwords, settings and bookmarked pages with a Google account.

Edge Chromium is very similar to the Chrome browser, and the great thing is that it can support Chrome extensions. Besides, Edge Chromium still has a few special features, such as Collections to help store images and web content, or the ability to customize the level of tracking and security.

All users of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, macOS, iOS and Android can download and install the new version of Edge Chromium today. First, you need to visit the Microsoft website and download the installer (or visit it here ).

Then you just need to run the installer. When done, the old Edge browser icon (if previously installed) will change to a new one. Once launched, you can choose to sync data from the old Chrome browser or Edge.

Edge Chromium promises to be a real competitor to Google’s Chrome.
